Trip to NYC

We drove to NYC last weekend for a little family getaway.  This time we stayed in Jersey City, NJ which is right across the water from Manhattan.  David took this picture as we were walking to the subway station.

The night we drove in we saw a Chuck E. Cheese and thought John David needed to burn some energy after sitting in the car for 8 hours.

This tractor ride was his favorite.

You can see how light Jack's hair is getting in this picture.

sunglasses from Aunt Sharon

John David's great aunt Sharon gave him a pair of sunglasses from the Harley Davidson dealership when we were in Texas last month.  He loves to put them on and walk around the house with them on.  The lenses are dark and probably smudged up with fingerprints---I doubt he can see very well with them on.  As you can see, he wears them at the bottom of his nose so he doesn't have to look through them.  And sometimes he puts them on upside down.

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter!  Today our neighbors threw a big Easter bash in our collective backyard.  I caught John David munching on someone's pork rib bone that he must have found in the grass or dug out of the trash can.

Here he is working on a popsicle.  You can see Easter eggs behind him in the grass.  Some of them had Little People hidden inside!  John David missed the Easter egg hunt because he was taking a nap.  When he woke up he enjoyed finding plastic egg halves in the grass and putting them in his mouth.

Here he is wearing a friend's sunglasses.  He very politely asked her, "Glasses?"  [Sounds like "gasses?"]  She handed them right over.  :)

3rd floor

Splash ! ! ! !

Today we went up to the 3rd floor of the Children's Museum for the very first time.  My friends told me there was huge interactive water exhibit and to bring a change of clothes for John David to wear afterwards.  Unfortunately, it didn't occur to me to bring a change of shoes.

There he is in the above photos splashing his hands in the water.  He also loved sticking his face in it.

Playing with a boat.

This part fascinated him for a few minutes.  When he stacked a second green ring on top the one seen here, the water would flow down instead of spraying upwards.  He would stack it, then unstack it.  Stack it, unstack it.

And here you can see the clear plastic tubing kids can use to construct their own pipes.  The water flows through it while they are building.  John David grabbed a tube taller than himself, hauled it over to the splash pool, and happily tossed it in.
