mirror mirror on the wall

John David had spaghetti for dinner tonight---that's the mess you can see on his little face.  Right before his bath I caught him checking out his reflection in my makeup mirror.  Handsome!    :)

my son stole my latte

David and I were out shopping after Christmas and John David insisted on sharing our coffee.  (We didn't really give him any).  After we finished it, he was happy to hold the cup and pretend to be cool like us.

Fun at Daycare

John David just had his first week at daycare!  Actually, he only attends two days a week....  Yesterday, his first day, he started bouncing in my arms as soon as we walked in the door---he wanted to get down and get busy playing and exploring.  When I picked him up that afternoon, the girls said it was really cute watching him check out every detail of the room.  They said he would also just sit and stare at the other babies.  I was a little sad I had missed it.  He was asleep when I got there so I didn't get to see him playing.

Fast forward to this morning.  As soon as I buckled him in the car seat he started screaming.  Uh oh.  Not a great sign.  Once we got there, he buried his head in my chest as I carried him down the long hallway leading to the big baby room (yesterday he flashed a big grin at each person passing by).  So we got to the room, I set him down, and he immediately crawled after me while I crossed the room to drop off  clean bottles.  In seconds, he was right behind me, pulling himself up, grabbing onto the back of my pants.  So I turned around & kissed him goodbye.  His little face scrunched up, turned beet red, and he started bawling as loud as he could.  Guess he knows what "bye bye" means!  One of the ladies picked him up so I headed for the door, not wanting to prolong the whole goodbye process.

This afternoon, when I went to get him, they said he hadn't cried long before crawling off to play.  So that's good.  He was asleep (again) so I didn't get to watch him interact with any other kids.  Oh well.  One of these days.

I just need to train him to poop at daycare instead of waiting for the comforts of home.  You know, help me get my money's worth.

John David on New Year's Eve.  Trying to play ball with Dolly but she doesn't understand what to do.  Knucklehead dog.  If you already saw the one on Facebook, this one is different but similar.
